Information for foreign nationals: renewal of temporary residence permits by 4 August 2026

Pursuant to Resolution No. 141 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 5 February 2026, “On Amendments to Resolution No. 1202 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 21 October 2022,” foreign nationals and stateless persons whose temporary residence permit renewal/replacement deadline occurred after 24 February 2022 must replace their permits between 7 May and 4 August 2026.

Please note that the provisions of Resolution No. 1202 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 21 October 2022, “Certain Issues of Implementing Migration Legislation During Martial Law,” under which the validity of temporary residence permits was extended during the period of martial law, did not apply to citizens of the Russian Federation.

New European Entry/Exit System Now Fully Operational

The Entry/Exit System (EES) is Europe’s new border management system for registering non-EU nationals travelling for short stays. It records each entry and exit at the external borders of 29 European countries.

The EES was progressively launched on 12 October 2025 and has been fully operational since 10 April 2026. Fully automated and digital, the system replaces traditional passport stamping across most of Europe.
